Awareness -Realize what has held you back from achieving your objectives. -Solicit input from others to increase your self-awareness. -Understand what you need to do to reach your full potential.

Motivation- Develop a powerful motivation to foster change. - Personalize the justification for the effort that will be required.- Channel your professional desires into specific goals with near-term benefits.

Belief- Erase all doubt that you can't realize your goal. - Review what hasn't worked, and learn from those experiences.- Anticipate roadblocks and craft a plan to overcome them.

Incremental Steps - Consider all approaches to your goal and choose the best alternative. - Identify small steps and create rational milestones/measurements. - Include activities that will keep your effort enjoyable.

Time and Energy - Forecast how much time and effort you'll need to reach your goal.- Create time in your schedule by doing less, delegating, and finding ways to be more productive.- Beat back fatigue and mental resistance by maintaining your energy level.

Initiation- Make sure the timing is right to launch your journey. - Consider any possible conflicts that could derail your plans.- You wouldn't start dieting right before a vacation, right?

Others- Ask for help/input - no one is successful on their own. - Build a support group to offer advice, keep you motivated, and enjoy your progression.- Secure the buy-in of anyone else affected and secure needed resources.

Normalcy- Remain focused on your goal.- Don't let events get in the way of moving forward.- Use your new behavior and approach every day, in every way you can until it is a habit.
