Approximately 39 percent of IT workers reported that working with recruiters to find a job was not a good use of their time.
But 28 percent of them said they had a good experience with recruiters-reporting that the middle men helped them get a job.
Another 23 percent said they'd gone on interviews set up by recruiters but did not get the job in the end.
Approximately 10 percent of respondents said they didn't find full-time work, but they did get some good contract jobs from recruiters.
Tom Silver, senior vice president for Dice: "Recruiters are an often forgotten, often undervalued resource. They provide insights that can't be gleaned from a job description, like details of a company's culture, the hiring manager's background, or the needs that resulted in a job's opening to begin with."
Dice reports a slight gain in IT employment job postings across all job categories in the past month.
All job listings increased by 2 percent, full-time listings edged up by 1.9 percent, available contract positions jumped by 3.6 percent, and part-time listings increased by 2.6 percent.
