In the world of enterprise IT, governance is something you often think about. You want to know how to handle the many IT tasks that are presented to you in the office, and you want to have a basic framework by which all decisions are made. Just as important, you want to show the business side just how important IT has become to the daily tasks that present themselves in the corporate world. ISACA, a not-for-profit organization that has stood alongside the IT industry for decades, launched COBIT 5 (Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies) in April. Like all those that came before it, COBIT 5 is a globally accepted framework that, as ISACA points out, boasts "an end-to-end business view of the governance of enterprise IT." In the following slides, we're going to dig into the five core principles that govern COBIT 5, and why they should play a central role in your IT governance in the coming years. In addition, we're going to offer up some surprising statistics collected by ISACA during its research related to COBIT 5.

This might seem rather obvious at first glance. After all, IT is supposed to determine what people need and deliver on it. Ask yourself: Does this always happen as efficiently as it should? More importantly, can the process of meeting those needs be improved? You bet.
