As the head of your company's technology team, you've probably spent a lot of time in the IT trenches yourself. And when it comes to your users asking for Help-Desk assistance, there seems to be no limit to how wacky their requests can be. A recent survey from Robert Half Technology takes a look at some of the more off-beat Help Desk requests tech pros have fielded, from the mouths of CIOs themselves. From IT questions to appliance repair and the occasional minor crime, tech support has been asked to do it all. "Beyond their entertainment value, these unusual requests demonstrate the strong customer service skills necessary to work in the help desk and technical support fields," says John Reed, executive director of Robert Half Technology. "The best IT professionals are composed and empathetic and, of course, have a good sense of humor." More than 1,400 CIOs from U.S. companies took part in the research.
