IDC: Android OS, Windows Phone 7 as Smartphone Leaders

The week's hot topics include Google going Instant, Mark Hurd joining Oracle, scary cybercrime stats and major movement in notebooks and smartphones.

Market-research firm IDC reports that by 2014, Google's Android OS and Windows Phone 7 will reign supreme in the mobile market. Although the research firm predicts that Apple iOS will be successful, the recent growth of Android OS devices, and the ubiquity of devices running both Google's software and Windows Phone 7, could eventually help them win the day.
