CIO Insight editors designed the 2007 Recruitment, Retention and Development Survey together
with members of the Ziff Davis Media research staff. IT executives gathered from Ziff Davis Media publication lists were
invited to participate in the study by e-mail. The questions were posted on a password-protected Web site, and 234 qualified
respondents (94 from companies with revenues in calendar 2006 between $5 and $100 million; 87 from companies with
revenues between $100 and $999 million, and 53 from companies with revenues of $1 billion or more) replied from April 19,
2007 to May 10, 2007. Of the respondents, 58 percent were the top IT executives of their companies, and the rest held other
IT executive positions.
