Lesson One: Person to person calling attempts waste a lot of time. Add up all that voicemail and phone tag time and you get a big number of non-productive minutes. We estimated that on average our senior people wasted about two working days a year on "failed" phone calls. So presence matters—if you can use it effectively. With so many people off the data network much of the time, a way to provide presence via cell phone would be a significant advantage.
