Methodology: How the Emerging Technologies Survey was Done
CIO Insight editors designed the 2007 Emerging Technologies survey together with members of the Ziff Davis Enterprise research staff. IT executives gathered from Ziff Davis Enterprise publication lists were invited to participate in the study by e-mail. The questions were posted on a password-protected Web site, and 266 qualified respondents (143 from companies with revenues in calendar 2006 between $5 million and $100 million; 79 from companies with revenues between $100 million and $999 million, and 44 from companies with revenues of $1 billion or more) replied from June 7 to June 20, 2007. Of the respondents, 56 percent were the top IT executive of their company, and the rest held other IT executive positions.
