Of course, strong enterprise security is an expensive proposition. A recent report from IBM reveals that many IT decision-makers are focusing on increasing their investments in endpoint security. The survey features responses from 300 IT decision-makers. Here are 10 highlights:

Nearly all respondent say they are currently spending on endpoint security for servers, PCs, and laptops.

Growing concern

50 percent of respondents expect to invest in security for smartphones and “other instrumented devices” this year.

1 Trillion

By 2015, IBM estimates that there will be about 1 trillion connected devices.

80 percent of respondents expect to add new endpoints to their network this year.

33 percent of respondents say visibility into all of their endpoints is their biggest security concern.

Corporate networks

Nearly three-quarters of respondents say they allow smartphones or tablets to connect to corporate networks.

36 percent of respondents say that mobile devices aren’t as well-protected from potential threats as they could be.

Mobile attacks

IBM’s research reveals that companies are seeing attacks and vulnerabilities, but not successful exploitation of mobile devices.

Lost or stolen devices

The biggest threat to mobile-device security right now is the possibility of employees losing or misusing device, according to the IBM report.

Control your data

According to IBM, when it comes to mobile security, the key thing all companies must do is “ensure control of their data regardless of where it is.”
