Stats on Dorothy Denning

Born: Aug. 12, 1945, in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Motivation: Frustration with software vulnerability.

Mentor: University of Michigan astronomy professor Fred Haddock, who first encouraged Denning to work with computers—in this case to compute Doppler shifts in stars rather than add them up on a calculator.
