Many of today's workers are always plugged in, and some are afraid to exist any other way, according to a new survey from InterCall.

Half of those surveyed say taking time off is increasingly challenging.

24% fear they'll be seen as less committed to work if they don't connect during their time off.

15% plan to take at least one work-related call or Web meeting during vacation.

48% of those using tech daily say they must do more with less these days (54% of workers with kids feel this way).

40% feel they do the jobs of two people today because of the recession.

Over 70% say conferencing/collaboration tools help them work better and faster.

60% say tech tools give them a competitive edge over co-workers.

Men are twice as likely as women to connect from locations they don't want their boss to know about.

5% admit they use conferencing tools to avoid wearing suits, ties and even shoes.
