Applied Research West recently tallied up surveys from over 1,700 organizations of all sizes from around the world for Symantec's annual State of the Data Center report. APC’s introduction of the new SmartUPS line changes the game for UPS protection. These new UPS systems have substantially increased the management reporting from the UPS. More information on predictive failure, battery disconnect/non-charging issues, and integration with tools like InfraStruxure Central, allow organizations to spend less time managing and insure the protection of their UPS. These new systems also focus on lowering costs with improved charging management. Insuring that batteries are not over-charged or overheated means optimal battery life, and less cost to replace batteries that don’t meet normal life spans. As a result, the new SmartUPS are an essential upgrade for datacenters and server rooms. Lowering costs, reducing management time, and providing better protection than older UPS products.

However, in some cases these cannot be consolidated into larger data centers or centralized data centers. So how can you reduce the costs of these satellite facilities? One of the key ways to do this is to move from unique and proprietary data center physical infrastructure to standardized products. This approach provides key benefits that will save you money.
