Six Steps to Reduce IT Complexity

Effective Governance of Simplified Processes  Establish a comprehensive framework to optimize business-IT governance that is combined with the simplification of processes through the use of lean and agile methodologies.

Organizations can be their own worst enemy when it comes to enterprise IT. There are far too many redundant applications, too much data that is duplicated, and not nearly enough insight into what types of application workloads are being processed and when. And with the advent of virtualization and cloud computing, IT management has never been more complex, which means the tolerance for managing IT in the same old way needs to lower than ever before.

To help CIOs better address the issues that are at the core of most IT-related problems, Boston Consulting has identified six actions in a “Simplify IT: Six Ways to Reduce Complexity” report that will enable them to proactively pursue the optimization of IT management across their entire environment. Boston Consulting estimates that an effective simplification effort can reduce application and infrastructure costs by up to 50 percent and total IT costs by as much as 30 percent.
