This week: The growing influence of chief financial officers over IT; Ed Cone on the death of IT; Eric Chabrow says don't hold back on IT investments as the economy weakens. Here's an excerpt from Chabrow: "As a recession looms, pressure is mounting from CEOs to rein-in spending throughout the enterprise, including IT. Being good team players, many CIOs will forgo a vigorous fight in the coming months to get the dollars needed to make critical IT investments. Instead, many will be tempted to take a Band-Aid approach, patching existing systems in order to make do till signs of a recovery emerge. That would be a strategic and ultimately costly mistake. ..."
