iCon Steve Jobs: The Greatest Second Act in the History of Business
By Jeffrey S. Young and William L. Simon
John Wiley & Sons,
May 2005
368 pages, $24.95

The subtitle tips you off that the authors are not afraid of hyperbole. And a quick skimming of the text will let you know that they are not afraid to practice psychiatry without a license: "Steve is no longer an emperor who stands at the water's edge and demands that the river change its course to his fiat." Or overwrought prose: "In a world of Baby Boomers . . . he is now an emblem of hope in a complex world." The only contribution here is a chronicling of the resurgence of Apple's CEO and his contribution to the iMac, iPod and Pixar animation.
