According to Dice, job postings for software development or developers bested all others with a total of 14,616 openings in October.

Quality assurance positions took the second spot in Dice’s listing with 9,355 total job postings, according to the careers site.

Not surprisingly, Python, SOAP, and Virtualization were popular during the month, with 3,775, 3,216, and 2,691 postings, respectively.

Windows 7 took the bottom spot for skill requests in October, reaching only 1,161 total postings.

The open-source real won big in the job postings, with JBoss hitting nearly 2,000 listings, representing a 10 percent jump over the same period last year.

Total listings related to Android development were up 33 percent to 2,204, according to Dice.

New York was the top spot to find a job, with a total of 8,803 IT-related postings coming from that city, according to Dice.

Not surprisingly, Silicon Valley and Boston took the next two spots with 5,654 and 3,421 postings, respectively.

Seattle saw the biggest jump in job postings with an 11 percent increase to land at 2,815.

All told, there were 84,508 available IT positions posted on Dice as of October. Out of those, nearly 52,000 were full-time positions.
