Companies Overwhelmed by Malware Threats
For years now, one of the enterprise's main concerns has been the security of corporate data and networks. However, a new survey of 315 IT security professionals conducted by Malwarebytes and the Enterprise Strategy Group reveals that despite these best efforts, companies are unable to adapt to the increasingly sophisticated attacks they're being hit with by cybercriminals. "As cyber-attacks become more sophisticated, IT security professionals are realizing that relying on only one layer of endpoint security isn't enough. Each endpoint needs multiple layers of malware detection to ensure complete protection," says Marcin Kleczynski, CEO of Malwarebytes. "The reality is, most antivirus products will miss nine out of 10 zero-day malware threats, and having a layered approach blocks advanced threats that traditional antivirus scanners may fail to detect." The study also found that as good as software might be and as knowledgeable as enterprise security professionals might be, at the end of the day, a company's safety is only as strong as the knowledge of business-side employees. And in too many cases, those employees don't know how to stay secure.
