Careers Slideshow: IT Skills Gap: Enterprises Aren't Getting the Tech Support They Need

A whopping 93 percent of respondents told CompTIA that there is a general skills gap in IT between "existing and desired skill levels."
Some companies have been having trouble finding the right IT people to handle the required tasks for each new position. In fact, it has become such an issue in the IT field that a majority of companies around the globe report not even being close to where they would like to be in terms of having the staff they need to handle important IT tasks. It seems that many employees can talk up their skills, but when it comes time to back them up, they fall short. That is clearly illustrated in a study from research firm CompTIA, which surveyed 502 U.S. IT and business managers between December 2011 and January 2012. The company also spoke with hundreds of managers in several other countries around the world to bolster its findings.
