As energy costs eat up bigger slices of the corporate budget, CIOs and other IT managers are under the gun to find ways to make their data centers more efficient.
The majority of organizations are either already implementing or are planning to launch programs to create greener data centers, according to a recent survey from CDW. Those that are successful reap the rewards and save money. But, moving forward is a challenge for many IT departments, especially when it comes to budgeting and getting the C-suite to prioritize your initiative. In the end, the report reveals that there isn't a "one size fits all" solution. "Like any other aspect of IT, energy efficiency in the data center is a multi-layer stack of solutions working together, and all available solutions deserve consideration," says Norm Lillis, vice president, systems solutions, at CDW. "The combination that makes the most sense will vary with the unique environment in a data center." More than 750 IT professionals took part in the research. For more about the survey, click here
