Are your IT administrators stressed out, working long hours and dealing with users who are driving them crazy? If so, you're not alone. According to a recent survey from GFI Software, IT admins report having stress levels off the charts, and as CIO, it's your job to pay attention and make sure your best people aren't experiencing burnout. Replacing over-stressed IT workers takes time and money you don't have. However, to solve the problem, many CIOs need turn to the budget. Too many senior tech managers are failing to give their teams the budget, staff and resources they need to be effective, the report finds. The resulting high-tension environment should serve "as a wake-up call, to ensure IT staff members are supported, productive and armed with the tools they need to be successful," says Phil Bousfield, general manager of GFI Software's Infrastructure Business Unit.
