The latest version of Apple Computer’s Boot Camp software is now available for Macintosh users.

The Cupertino, Calif., PC maker released the latest beta version of the software, called Boot Camp 1.1.2, on its Web site on Oct. 30. The software gives Intel-based Macs the ability to run Microsoft’s Windows operating system.

In its announcement, Apple said the new version of Boot Camp will support the “latest Intel-based Macintosh computers,” which is a reference to the company’s announcement on Oct. 24 that it has updated its MacBook Pro notebooks with Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor.

This latest announcement was similar to a Boot Camp update given on Sept. 18, after Apple and Intel announced that the two companies had begun offering the Core 2 Duo processor in the iMac line.

On Oct. 18, Apple announced its fourth-quarter financial results and company executives said that since Boot Camp was first introduced on April 5 it has been downloaded more than a million times by users.
