You may want to think twice about asking certain prospective hires to just "Be honest and be yourself" during a job interview. That's because there are some job seekers out there who don't have a good sense of what's appropriate to say during an interview, according to a new survey from CareerBuilder. As a CIO, you'd prefer a certain level of candor among job candidates, so you can get to the "real" person sitting across from your desk. But when applicants are this forthcoming, they take themselves right out of the running. Outrageous interviewing incidents aside, CareerBuilder's survey also includes several common interviewee traits that typically land potential hires in the "do not hire" pile. The survey also sheds light upon how many employees are currently planning to look for work elsewhere, lending credibility to earlier features here indicating that recruitment wars will continue to heat up for the indefinite future. More than 2,600 hiring managers and nearly 4,000 workers took part in the research.
