Nothing can stop the IT industry. At least that's what a recent IT spending study from research firm Gartner indicates. The company noted in a recent statement that IT spending will increase once again this year. However, the growth in spending won't be as strong as originally believed, due mainly to a drop in telecom spending and devices, and the realization that the average IT budget has shifted dramatically with the adoption of tablets. Still, 2014 looks to be a better year for the IT sector. Spending is slated to increase significantly next year as some sectors that experienced a little sluggishness this year, such as devices and telecom services, will see a bit of a resurgence. But whether that spending in devices will be due to increased PC adoption or a greater investment in tablets remains to be seen.
Enterprise Software to See Strong Growth Expect enterprise software to see the strongest growth in 2014, with spending rising 6.6% to $324 billion. According to Gartner, that growth will be spurred on by increased demand for customer relationship management software.
