In prior features, we've reported that CIOs and other tech managers are struggling to remain competitive in the recruiting game. And, as the laws of supply and demand dictate, IT salaries are rising as a result. Surprisingly, however, the majority of tech job candidates accept the very first offer they get, without even attempting to negotiate for a bigger salary or hourly compensation rate, according to a recent survey from Dice.com. And nearly all hirers and recruiters say they've never entirely ruled out the possibility of raising the compensation level if the candidate pursues a negotiation. So consider this "our little secret" for now. (Well, at least until some promising job applicants read this.) Also included in Dice's regular report are updates on overall job position postings, as well as the top cities for IT job opportunities. Interestingly, the East Coast is home to two of the top five metro areas. A total of 838 hirers and recruiters took part in the Dice research.
