The IT industry, like so many others, has seen its share of ups and downs. After weathering numerous bubbles and one Great Recession, however, things have been on the upswing. The IT industry is hiring more and CIOs are finding that they have the budgets to add staff. It's a good thing for IT professionals and an even better thing for companies that want to extend the overall success of their operations. As CIOs know all too well, IT is central to the average company's prospects for success.
However, attracting the right people isn't always easy and pitfalls abound. That has been made abundantly clear in a study from TEKsystems, an IT staffing company that recently surveyed more than 2,000 IT professionals and 1,500 IT leaders about recruitment. The company's findings shed light on the sometimes-tenuous IT hiring process and provide some valuable insight into what CIOs should do in order to ensure they're getting the best talent for the job.
Too Long? Well, Good-Bye! There's a real risk about online applications that are too long. In fact, 46% of IT professionals say that they won't apply for a job if they find an application is overly long.
