Enterprises Deploying More Apps in the Cloud 06

By Dennis McCafferty  |  Posted 10-08-2012 Print

Cloud computing keeps building momentum as a preferred way to run business applications, according to a recent survey from Qumu . Findings show that a significant number of organizations either already run apps in the cloud, or plan to within the next year. Among the benefits cited: cost savings, quicker deployment time and security advantages. The survey reveals that large enterprises are more inclined to take advantage of this trend, with 51 percent currently running applications in the cloud, as opposed to less than 43 percent of small-medium businesses that do so. "Some may expect large companies to be concerned about cloud security," says Ray Hood, senior vice president and general manager of Qumu, a top business-video platform provider. "But larger companies have more history with IT outsourcing, and see the cloud as the logical next step." More than 700 IT professionals took part in the research.
