Like Your Employees, You're Headed to the Cloud

Under the Influence  73% of IT professionals say their company’s push to the cloud was heavily influenced by employees using personal devices to access cloud applications.

The cloud is the future. That’s what everyone says. In fact, it’s what the vast majority of vendors, like IBM and Microsoft, say when they’re asked about their enterprise marketing efforts. The web is being viewed by companies as an equalizer that will allow firms of all sizes to work from any location and increase their productivity. To say that it’s a monumental shift in the way companies do business is, yes, an understatement.

That such a belief is an understatement was made abundantly clear in CDW’s 2013 State of the Cloud Report. That assessment, which was based on survey responses from 1,242 IT professionals, aims at discovering the impact of the cloud in today’s corporate world, and how cloud computing will impact the enterprise in the coming years. Not surprisingly, the findings lead CDW to predict that cloud computing is here to stay. And business-side employees are pleased with the cost savings generated by cloud adoption.

The world is changing at a rapid rate. And as much as cloud computing presents challenges to the IT side, it’s becoming increasingly clear that CIOs and their staff must adapt–or else.
