Organizations Facing Bumpy Cloud Transition

In theory, the cloud promises to help organizations cut operational expenses while paving the way for more agile business operations. However, the road to mass cloud adoption is paved with a number of transitional bumps, according to a recent survey from KPMG International. Yes, the cost savings and efficiencies exist, findings reveal. But one in three companies is discovering the price of implementation is higher than expected. Other hurdles include alignment with existing tech structures and interoperability concerns. As is often the case, the surest way to a smooth transition is anticipating what lies ahead and planning accordingly. "Simply put, executives have found that simultaneous business process redesign is central to addressing the complexities that often arise in the implementation and operational phases of cloud adoption," says Rick Wright, leader of KPMG's global cloud enablement program. More than 650 business and IT leaders throughout 16 major global markets took part in the research.
