The vast majority of large enterprises are actively involved in planning and budgeting for improved unified communications and collaboration (UCC) solutions, according to a recent global survey from Dimension Data. Among the top drivers for UCC: enhancing business processes, upgrading flexible employee working conditions, boosting productivity and increasing business agility, findings show. However, for most of these organizations, user input does not play a substantial role in the direction of these plans. That’s a mistake, according to Dimension Data. "Employee feedback is critical,” says Craig Levieux, Dimension Data's group general manager for converged communications. “In a world where more workers bring their own devices to work, a gap in understanding between decision-makers and employees could come at a very real cost. User uptake is a critical success metric for UCC investments, especially as more UCC applications will be delivered to employees who expect multiple device support and applications that match their requirements.” The findings also demonstrate the impact of enterprise social-networking efforts on employee performance. More than 1,320 IT and UCC decision-makers worldwide and 1,390 employees took part in the research, which was conducted by Ovum.
