The outlook for the worldwide disk storage systems market continues to look promising after external disk storage systems factories posted nearly $6 billion in revenues in the second quarter of 2012 (2Q12), good for year-over-year growth of 6.5 percent, according to IT research firm International Data Corporation s (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Disk Storage Systems Tracker. "Despite concerns regarding the global and regional economies, end users continue to invest in storage infrastructures. Helping to drive the worldwide market in Q2 was the double-digit growth in the emerging regions and strong demand for mid-range storage."
In the total open networked storage market, EMC continues to maintain its lead with 33.7 percent revenue share, followed by NetApp with a 14 percent revenue share.
