What CIOs Must Know About Managing Enterprise Apps

Jan 21, 2015

As IT leaders, you’ve been buying enterprise applications for years, and you know that a number of key decisions must be made. But things have gotten more complex since the introduction of the cloud, BYOD and shadow IT.

You now have to decide whether to buy on-premise or cloud-based apps. And, if they’re cloud-based, you must choose the type of cloud: public, private or hybrid.

Enterprise mobility and the BYOD movement have complicated your choices even more. You’ll have to determine which apps you’ll let employees run on their personal smartphones. Another decision: Will your IT team maintain, update and support those apps, while providing a secure environment?

You must also figure out how closely you’ll work with the line-of-business managers in your company. In some cases, those managers may be buying their own apps, and you’ll need to decide how to handle this shadow IT scenario.

The editors of eWEEK, CIO Insight, Baseline, Datamation and Enterprise Apps Today want to help you make good decisions when it comes to enterprise apps. We’ll be sharing ideas at a Google+ Hangout streamed here at 1:30 ET/10:30 PT on Thursday, February 5th. We hope you can join us.
