CIOs Are Key to Green

More and more companies are going green, and they say they’re doing it for altruistic reasons, according to our recent Green IT survey. Businesses cited environmental concerns as their top driver, followed closely by cost savings.

While there’s reason to be skeptical about corporate motivations, there’s no question about the CIO role in green initiatives. The vast majority of respondents told us they are key to the process. What was surprising, though, was that one in 10 IT chiefs at firms with defined green strategies said they remain on the periphery.
