It’s no surprise that healthcare IT is a disgrace. But I’ve begun to wonder if healthcare’s IT failings are more than just bad business; they may be morally irresponsible. Not only does bad IT ensure bad (or at least less-good-than-it-could-be) health care, it raises the costs for everyone, thereby ensuring worse healthcare in the future.

After all, effective care is cheap care, which reduces costs for everyone in the healthcare food chain. That’s something everyone can agree on.
