Several tech sites, including Mobile Crunch and EnGadget, are citing antenna issues as the root of connectivity problems with the Motorola Droid 2, which debuted in the U.S. August 12, 2010, on the Verizon Wireless network. If Droid 2 is, in fact, experiencing connectivity problems, it could have major consequences for both Motorola and Verizon — which right now heavily depends on Android-based devices to compete against its iPhone-offering rival, AT&T.
At the very least, an antenna issue could bne an embarrassment for Verizon. In an advertisement for the Motorola Droid X, Verizon added in a bit of text at the bottom — in clearly a jab at AT&T and Apple — "It comes with a double antenna design. The kind that allows you to hold the phone any way you like and use it just about anywhere to make crystal clear calls."
