Demystifying Business Intelligence Data

Employees feel that business intelligence (BI) data is playing an increasingly important role in their company while helping them do their jobs better, according to a recent survey from Clutch. The resulting "2016 Business Intelligence Data Analytics Survey" report reveals that BI data is also becoming more "demystified," as the majority of these users say it's easy to access—and many can do so on their own, without the assistance of IT, or anyone else for that matter. When they do, they take advantage of BI tools to increase efficiencies and improve the development of business strategies, whether they work for logistics and operations, marketing, R&D or customer service. Even more intriguing: The majority of users didn't even start using BI tools until recent years. So we may very well be seeing just the beginning of many positive outcomes in pursuing this tech niche. To maximize BI's value, however, CIOs and their IT teams will need to help resolve challenges related to security and data flaws. More than 290 employees who use BI data analytics on the job took part in the research.
