Mobile IM Solves Collaboration Woes for Smartlogic

Smartlogic, a software and services firm that brings semantic search capabilities to enterprise customers worldwide, had a communications conundrum.

With more than 30 project teams scattered around the globe at as many as seven different locations at a time, Smartlogic needed a way to bring workers together for daily updates. The company’s “scrum” method, with daily conference calls, was becoming a logistics nightmare that cost too much money. And, time spent on conference calls that could last hours kept teams from doing client work.

The company turned to Palringo’s Instant Enterprise Messaging Platform in an effort to help teams share information efficiently. The system enables team members to send text, picture and voice messages and to hold interactive discussions from mobile devices. It also keeps a searchable record of the meetings and discussions.

As a result, team members are now spending about 15 minutes each per day on updates, freeing them to spend more time working for clients. Palringo has also enabled Smartlogic to cut back on international conference calling services. Team members also use the system’s presence and messaging functions to figure out who’s available to help problem-solve as issues arise.

“The success of our projects, and our reputation as a company, revolves around our ability to deliver,” said Matthieu Jonglez, CTO of Smartlogic, in a statement. “Palringo’s platform makes it easier for teams to collaborate, both on scheduled daily team status calls and as issues arise. And we are left with a searchable record of each conversation. Because of the instant nature of Palringo-enabled communications, and the versatility of information-sharing methods, we have improved our internal processes tremendously, resulting in an improved project experience for our clients.”

Palringo Enterprise supports P2P and group messaging and can be used from any handheld mobile device or desktop. It runs on all major mobile operating platforms, and can connect with third-party services like AIM, Microsoft Messenger and Facebook Chat. It can be configured to keep a full record of conversations accessible through Palringo clients, a users-account page on the Web or via an admin control panel.
