Telecom Firms Get Poor Reviews

1 minute read

Each year, the CIO Insight Vendor Value survey reveals some telling trends in the way businesses view their IT providers. One constant: Telecommunications firms typically rank far below their counterparts in hardware, software, networking and security.

We rank IT firms based on an overall average of how customers score their value, reliability and loyalty. This year, the top vendor, RSA Security, scored 82 percent overall. The highest telecom firm, Sprint Nextel, came in at 65 percent; the lowest, Verizon Communications, scored 49 percent. In terms of value, reliability and loyalty, telecom firms scored among the lowest throughout, dragging their overall scores to the basement of our top 40 list. The lesson for CIOs? Choose very, very carefully.
