IT Emerges as Key Business Player

CIOs and their IT teams are proving their worth to CEOs as leading strategic contributors to their organization's success, according to a new survey from Modis IT Staffing. After all, with IT demonstrating ROI-impacting results now with regard to cloud, mobile and big data analytics deployments, it would be difficult for CEOs to disregard how much value tech leadership and teams are bringing to the table. (All of which, of course, plays a major factor in assessing a CEO's own value.) To elaborate upon this, the survey findings reveal that nearly all CEOs and business owners feel their IT department will play a critical role in business in 2015, and that tech is now meeting expectations on ROI—if not exceeding them. They also say that CIOs and IT leaders are making the right calls when it comes to hiring talent, making tech acquisition decisions and articulating tech's role to other departments. Along with the survey highlights, we're presenting the following best practices for further elevating IT's "respect factor" within an organization. They were compiled from various online research, including Fruition Partners, a cloud service management company. An estimated 500 CEOs and business owners took part in the Modis research.
