By Lou Dobbs
Warner Business Books August 2004
The title says it all. The managing editor and anchor of CNN's Lou Dobbs Tonight sees outsourcing as little more than an attempt by CEOs to enrich their personal paychecks. Intriguingly, there is almost no mention in this slight book about the fact that shareholders, most of whom work for a living, benefit as the companies they invest in become more productive. The proposed solution from this self-professed Republican: government intervention. Specifically, he suggests states mandate that public contracts be performed by state workers, and urges more federal trade intervention to "level the playing field worldwide."
