It's time to shift your thinking about data security, according to security and data experts at DataGravity, a data-aware storage platform. "Many people consider data security to be synonymous with perimeter security," said Perry Dickau, director of product management at DataGravity. "However, with the rise in data breaches in today's IT landscape, focusing only on your perimeter is no longer enough to protect your business' critical data assets and sensitive information." He believes organizations need to think more holistically about security strategies, add visibility and protect their data at all layers of their infrastructure. This includes from perimeters and end points, to applications, servers, networks and storage. "When a breach happens, your sensitive data should already be locked down and out of reach," Dickau said. Here are Dickau's eight reasons for updating your approach to data security.
