With a thorough understanding of their crucial role in the success of the business, CIOs can make themselves invaluable at the executive decision-making table.

A new survey, "Modis CEO Survey 2014," reports that CEOs and business owners greatly appreciate their CIOs and other senior IT leaders, and that the majority of these tech executives are scoring an A+. Nearly all CEOs and business owners believe their IT department is either delivering on par or above expectations when it comes to their return on investment (ROI). CEOs are also confident about the talent their CIOs and directors of IT are hiring. As a result, senior IT leadership is being rewarded with a larger share of the budget. Conducted by Modis IT Staffing, the report presents the results of a telephone survey of 500 business owners and CEOs in the United States. Of these, 206 had IT departments. “One of the striking points of the survey has to be the level of confidence today’s CEO is placing in the CIO,” says Jack Cullen, president of Modis, ”When the company’s chief executive is touting benefits of the company’s IT department to other business execs, that is a ringing endorsement for a company’s CIO.”
