Most CIOs Report ‘A Major IT Transformation’
Enhancing and protecting business value: Cybersecurity, Data classification, IT asset and data management, Mobile platforms and social media
CIOs and other IT respondents say the most pressing challenges are aligning and integrating IT risk management and business continuity capabilities with broader, long-term business strategies.
Now more than ever before, a top priority across all industries is managing and strengthening security and privacy for systems and data.
Organizing, managing and securing growing amounts of data within enterprise is also a top priority.
Companies are seeking to improve their data and information government systems and are driven by the increased use of mobile devices and apps. This focus, plus the further integration of the cloud into IT strategy and processes, are pressing challenges.
CIOs and other IT professionals agree that even as security-related priorities compete for their time and resources, they also must focus on incorporating secure, integrated systems for mobile commerce and other devices and address social media safeguards and strategies.
Respondents were also asked to rank 10 technology categories by level of priority, from 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest priority. They consistently ranked topics related to cybersecurity and managing data privacy as “significant priorities” (i.e., greater than 6).
Both developing and maintaining security and privacy standards, and monitoring security events, ranked high at 6.4. Incident response also ranked high with a 6.3 rating.
This category, as well as developing and maintaining IT disaster recovery plans, and ensuring business alignment, ranked 6.2, the highest for that category.
In the Defining IT Governance and Strategy category, key performance indicators, monitoring IT costs and benefits, and integration and alignment of IT planning and business strategy received a 6.5 rating.
