The CIO Strategy for 2010

Dec 10, 2009

Don’t worry–2009 is just about over. That’s the good news.

The bad news is that CIOs from organizations large and small have been telling CIO Insight that they expect 2010 to be much of the same–another year of cost cutting, productivity boosting and endless demands on IT. And a number of recent studies tell the same story.

Despite the obvious pressures of post-recession IT leadership, many prominent CIOs are focusing their strategies and looking ahead to better times. We lined up four top-flight IT leaders and asked them to describe how they’ll do that in 2010.

Bill Krivoshik, Marsh & McLennan Companies’ first enterprisewide CIO, explains how he’s shaping the role. Cisco’s Rebecca Jacoby chronicles her approach to working with the business, especially with her CEO, John Chambers. Stuart McGuigan details IT’s role in building a new business model at CVS Caremark. And Avaya’s Lorie Buckingham offers advice on how to transform your IT organization.
