The growing presence of employees and managers called “citizen developers” are creating custom apps in a very efficient and business-focused manner.

82% of the global professionals surveyed said citizen development is reducing inefficiencies, and 71% said it is increasing team productivity.

60% said citizen development is resulting in a reduction in data entry.

83% said they are motivated to become citizen developers to create a better way to work, and 48% saw an increase in work satisfaction due to their efforts.

34% of the survey respondents are managers or supervisors, and only 12% have a background in computer science.

49% said their colleagues describe them as “problem solvers.”

71% said they get their apps up and running in less than three months, with 46% of them reporting that their apps are up and running in less than four weeks.

66% of the respondents spend no more than 10 hours a week building custom apps, with 42% of them spending less than five hours a week.
