More Companies Choose Hybrid Cloud Solutions

35% plan to build a hybrid cloud during the next two years, but 31% don’t have a plan yet. 12% expect to move some storage to the public cloud, and 11% intend to move all storage to a public cloud.
33% of respondents plan to move more than half their storage to the cloud, and 52% plan to move less than half to the cloud.
28% of respondents named archiving as the task they most expect to migrate to the cloud. Corporate file sharing is second, at 22%.
42% of respondents do not know, or currently have no plans, to migrate in-house applications to the cloud.
Less than one-fifth of the survey respondents—18%—are migrating their entire business to the cloud.
26% of respondents will move data analytics to the cloud; 24% will migrate storage; 20% will migrate collaboration software; 16% will migrate mail servers; and 14% don’t know.
Amazon is being considered by 49% of respondents. Google follows with 19%, and Microsoft with 13%.
56% are considering Amazon for storage, and 20% don’t know. Other vendors being considered are Swift/OpenStack (8%), EMC/Atmos (7%), Ceph/Red Hat (4%), Cleversafe (3%) and Scality (2%).
