Intriguingly, there is almost no mention in this slight book about the fact that shareholders, most of whom work for a living, benefit as the companies they invest in become more productive. The proposed solution from this self-professed Republican: government intervention. Specifically, he suggests states mandate that public contracts be performed by state workers, and urges more federal trade intervention to “level the playing field worldwide.”
