According to recent figures released by the World Bank, Americans are by far the most generous when it comes to donating to charities and other goodwill organizations. In 2005, the latest year for which figures are available, Americans donated the equivalent of 1.67 percent of the U.S. gross domestic product—roughly $205 billion. And that’s not counting the $40 billion Warren Buffet donated to the Gates foundation in July 2006.

CIOs looking to contribute to the greater good certainly have no shortage of options. Here are a few technology-focused organizations you might consider supporting, whether through personal donations or corporate giving programs.
